Release Date Set for Gran Turismo 7 the New Sony Playstation VR2 Headset
The new virtual reality headset will be available in February 2023.
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan made the announcement at Sony’s CES press conference that on February 22, 2023, the company would release a new PlayStation VR2 headset titled: Gran Turismo 7.
The addition of Sony’s PlayStation 5-exclusive virtual reality device, which has impressive specifications and a sky-high $549.99 price tag, significantly strengthens the launch lineup for the device.
Along with PS VR2, Sony is releasing a VR version of Horizon: Call of the West, a VR adaptation of one of their most successful open-world games, as well as VR adaptations of two games, namely; No Man’s Sky and Resident Evil Village. Ryan has stated that “more than 30 games are on track for the launch window,” but he has not specified how long this window will be.
Ryan further disclosed that the PSVR 2 version of the acclaimed VR rhythm game Beat Saber was in the works. While Gran Turismo 7 is the first full-fledged Gran Turismo game to support VR, Gran Turismo Sport for the PS4 does so in a limited capacity with the original PlayStation VR headset. Ryan has shown off some impressive gameplay footage from GT7’s VR mode, despite Sony remaining silent on the topic.
