PS5 Console Records Milestone 30 Million Worldwide Sales

Sony has reported worldwide sales of more than 30 million PS5 consoles. As of September 30th, 2022, 25 million units of the console have been shipped, which was the last major milestone revealed for the device.

At CES 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan announced that December 2022 was the best month ever for PS5 console sales.

The console maker had reportedly set a goal of 30 million sales by the end of their 2023 fiscal year which runs from the 1st of April 2023 to the 31st of March, 2024, so reaching this milestone early is just the beginning of things to come.

There have also been whispers of a new version in the works with a removable disc drive. Sony, however, has not confirmed any of this.

Meanwhile, on February 22nd, it will release PlayStation VR2 for $549.99 with more than 30 games. Furthermore, Project Leonardo, an accessibility controller kit for the PS5, was revealed, allowing for players with disabilities to have more control over the game. Keep an ear out for further CES 2023 news and announcements.
