In celebration of the highly anticipated premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us series, Sony has gifted PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers with an exciting opportunity.

Released in 2022, The Last of Us Part I was created by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment to widespread acclaim. This game is a remake of the popular 2013 game The Last of Us, which features modernized gameplay and controls as well as expanded accessibility options, such as; audio descriptions for cinematics and haptic feedback for dialogue.

The single-player campaign follows the journey of the game’s protagonist, Joel, who is tasked with safely escorting young Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States while facing off against cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated Cordyceps fungus. The game also features The Last of Us: Left Behind, a single-player expansion that delves into Ellie and her best friend Riley’s story.

2-Hour Play through Trial Available on Last of Us Part 1 Remake on Sony PlayStation 5

To leverage the hype generated by the debut of HBO’s The Last of Us series, Sony is capitalizing by promoting the The Last of Us Part 1 PS5 remake. Players can now play through the first two hours of the PS5 remake of The Last of Us Part 1.

This is made possible by the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus, which offers time-limited game trials, cloud streaming, and a catalog of classic games from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and (streaming only) PS3.

The trial of “The Last of Us Part 1” appears to coincide with the recent broadcast of the first episode of the HBO TV adaptation, which aired with much critical acclaim. The PS5 release of The Last of Us Part 1 is a faithful reproduction of the original game, featuring modernized gameplay, controls and weaponry, such as; crafted detonating devices and other long-range attack weapons including rifles and pistols.

The game allows you to engage in melee attacks using a variety of hand-wielding face-to-face weapons  like metal pipes and bats. You will also be able to defend yourself using chokeholds, especially during stealth combat with an in-your-face camera viewing angle to add to the gameplay experience.

According to some critics, The Last of Us Part 1 is the definitive version of one of the best games ever because of its improved visuals and unmatched performances.

Fans should be ready to experience the legendary franchise of Naughty Dog as “The Last of Us Part 1” debuts for a new audience on March 3rd, 2023.

The game will launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store for an unbeatable price of $10 less than its PS5 counterpart and will be fully optimized for the Steam Deck.

The co-creator and co-writer of the HBO show, Craig Mazin, has claimed that The Last of Us is “the greatest story that has ever been told in video games.” He attributes this to its protagonists being normal people rather than larger-than-life characters, and says that this is a remarkable rarity in the world of video gaming.

Going by the adaptation of the Last of Us by HBO, we can say for certain that the game has surpassed both critics and gamers’ expectations thus far.
