New Weapons, Maps, and More for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2’s Second Season
The upcoming Season 2 update for Call of Duty will add new weapons, operators, and a new battle pass for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Below is a summary of everything we know so far about the major update coming in CoD Season 2.
When will CoD Season 2 be released?
Because the Season 1 Battle Pass will expire on February 1, the release date for Season 2 is projected to fall on or around that date.
An Overview of Season 2
Even though it hasn’t been announced, the new Call of Duty season will likely include a new battle pass with new weapons, operators, and skins. New updates for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will likely include further weapon balancing and bug fixes.
Ralph’s Valve, a controversial Call of Duty tipster, dropped a hint about the Season 2 key art having a Japanese theme back in early December of 2022. The Modern Warfare 2019 concept art that alluded to the Ronin operator’s return has been removed. Call of Duty: World at War’s Castle map was also leaked, as it was re-used in the 2017 game – Call of Duty: Vanguard. Taking rumors and leaks with a grain of salt is always a good idea.
It has also been discovered by data miners that there are additional weapons for Modern Warfare 2 that are not part of the season pass. Some fans believe that the Crossbow and the Vepr-12 Shotgun will make their debut in Season 2.
Even though the specifics of the Season 2 update for Warzone 2 are still unknown, journalists have speculated that a scaled-down version of the Resurgence map will be added to the battle royale mode. A purportedly leaked map of Resurgence, like the ones for Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, has also been posted on Reddit. However, the compromised photo has been replaced with a new one.
Activision has been silent on whether or not a 2nd map will be introduced to Warzone 2 and whether or not it will be like the Resurgence map.
Conflict in the Modern Era, Part 2
A new episode of Raid has been confirmed, but the majority of Season 2’s multiplayer content for Modern Warfare 2 is still unknown. These three-player Raid episodes, which include stealth, action, and puzzle-solving missions, continue Modern Warfare 2’s narrative. The first Raid episode, Atomgrad, became available with the release of Season 1 Reloaded. Since then, Infinity Ward has affirmed that each new season will include a new Raid episode.
In addition, Season 2 may see the debut of Modern Warfare 2’s competitive Ranked Play mode. While the developer has stated that Ranked Play will be available in 2023, along with the mode’s competitive ladder, leaderboards, and rewards, they have not made any mention of which season Ranked Play will make its debut.
Modern Warfare 2 also received the Chimera assault rifle and the Shipment map as part of Season 1 Reloaded. To help players improve and play like professionals, the CDL playlist was recently added. The maps, rules, and limitations are the same as those used by the professionals in the Call of Duty League, despite the absence of a ranking system or leaderboards.
