It's Frightening to Release Redfall on Xbox Game Pass - Developer
Game Pass is a subscription service offered by Microsoft that allows players to access a wide range of games for a monthly fee.
In a recent interview, Harvey Smith an American video game designer for Arkane Studios stated that the Xbox Game Pass video game pool is enormous for Arkane, which in his own words, he described as both “scary” and “shocking”.
Harvey Smith also stated – “I feel like with Xbox Game Pass, the potential is here for us to say: this is Arkane, and these are our creative values – we can expose a lot of people to the way that we make games,”
Harvey further added – “…I hope we can turn people onto what we do: deep world creation, environmental storytelling, the emergent results of combat and your powers, and creating lovingly crafted worlds with a real sense of history and character.”
Smith’s fears were raised because of the imminent launch of Redfall and he couldn’t help but express his thoughts on this issue by saying – “Like, how many people are going to play Redfall in the first week? What if it’s a lot more than we anticipated… we’re going to get a lot of feedback very quickly, and a lot of people will see what we’ve spent the last few years on.”
With Redfall due for release in the second quarter of 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X/S, we can only hope that Harvey’s fears are nothing more than the anxieties of a video game designer hoping for the success of a much anticipated title.
